The 24-Hour Rule
When a client messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours. Outside that window — or to message someone proactively — you need an approved template. So a reply to a client's "Are you open Sunday?" needs no template, but tomorrow's reminder or next week's Diwali offer does.

How to Get Your Templates Approved Fast
Rejections are frustrating and slow you down. Here's how to clear Meta's review on the first try.
Pick the right category
Miscategorisation is the #1 rejection reason. A booking reminder is Utility — don't sneak a '20% off' line into it, or Meta reclassifies the whole template as Marketing (and charges you more). Keep promos in Marketing templates.
Never start or end with a variable
A placeholder like {{1}} at the very beginning or end is auto-rejected, because it can resolve to anything. Always wrap variables in real words — "Hi {{1}}, …" is fine; "{{1}}, welcome" is not.
Provide sample values
For every {{1}}, {{2}} you use, supply an example (e.g. Priya, Hair Spa, 4:30 PM). If your header is an image, upload a real sample image. Missing samples slow approval or cause rejection.
Keep variables sequential and clean
Use {{1}}, {{2}}, {{3}} in order with no gaps, matched curly braces, and no #, $ or % inside a placeholder. {{1}}, {{2}}, {{4}} with no {{3}} will be rejected.
No URL shorteners or wa.me links
Bit.ly-style shorteners and wa.me links in the body are common rejection triggers. Use your full booking-page URL or a proper button instead.
Avoid duplicate templates
Two templates with identical body text get rejected (except Authentication). If you need a variant, change the wording meaningfully — don't just rename it.

Having 50 templates is one thing — using them well is what separates salons that book out from those that get muted.
Personalise beyond the name
Map variables to service names, stylist names, exact times and amounts — not just {{1}} for the name. A reminder that says "your Hair Spa with Anjali at 4:30 PM" converts far better than a generic one.
Keep it short
Nobody reads paragraphs on WhatsApp. Lead with the key info, use line breaks, and get to the CTA fast.
One clear CTA per message
Tell the client exactly what to do next — Book, Confirm, Reschedule, Review. One action, one link or reply keyword.
Use emojis sparingly
A couple add warmth and catch the eye. A wall of emojis looks spammy and can trigger rejection or lower your quality rating.
Respect opt-in
